Dr. Mary Hill-Wagner has been a newspaper journalist, editor, college professor and grant writer. Her feature articles and news stories have appeared in regional and national publications. She’s held staff and editing positions at the Chicago Tribune, Des Moines Register, Las Vegas SUN, and other publications across the country.

In 2021, her memoir “Girlz ‘N the Hood: A Memoir of Mama in South Central Los Angeles,” was published by Regal House, a woman-owned traditional independent publisher. Mary has taught journalism and magazine writing at the University of Southern California, Drake University, Ohio State University, North Carolina Central University, Clarion University, Humboldt State University, Iowa State University and Shaw University. Her academic credits include earning a B.A. in journalism from the USC, an M.A. from Ohio State University, and a PhD from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.
